Job summary

AIRO Group Holdings, Inc. in Phoenix is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to architect and implement C2 integration between our UAS platforms and external C2 networks and GCS. You will own the strategy for standard interfaces and ensure low-latency, robust operation in challenging environments.

Lead C2 middleware, MAVLink/CoT/UCI/OMS integrations, and develop real-time video/telemetry pipelines. You will drive SITL/HITL testing and coordinate field trials with flight teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software experience in robotics, aerospace, defense tech, or autonomous systems.
• Expert in C++/Rust with Python for backend integration and tooling.
• Deep expertise with C2 protocols (MAVLink, CoT, UCI/OMS) and open defense architectures.

Responsibilities

• Architect C2 middleware and abstraction layers to link UAS with third‑party GCS and defense networks.
• Drive interoperability protocols for CoT, MAVLink, UCI, and OMS across airborne and ground nodes.
• Engineer video and telemetry pipelines with RTSP and WebRTC for low‑latency streams.
• Develop ATAK/TAK plugins and operator interfaces for GCS ecosystems.
• Lead SITL and HITL testing to validate C2 layers before live flights.
• Conduct field trials and live flight integration with operators and engineers.
