Product Engineering is responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products, including media engineering, quality assurance, personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

Disney's Android team seeks an experienced Software Engineer to build apps enjoyed by millions worldwide. You will develop scalable, elegant solutions for Android applications on Disney+ and Star+ across devices including phones, tablets, and TVs. Our collaborative group values communication skills, a bias for action, and high code quality standards with unit tests, automated tests, modern libraries, and a Kotlin codebase. We aim to build the best Live and VOD applications and look forward to your contributions.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with critical components such as release processes, remote configuration, and live production issues.
  • Lead projects from start to finish.
  • Monitor team health and project high-level aspects.
  • Seek leadership opportunities and improve processes with a positive attitude.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience with Kotlin or Android SDK.
  • Proficiency with Reactive Programming and Dependency Injection.
  • Knowledge of architectural patterns (MVI/MVVM or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills and team collaboration.
  • Strong coding, testing, and documentation skills.
  • Experience resolving large-scale production issues.
  • Proven project leadership from start to finish.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Android libraries like Dagger 2 / Hilt, RxJava2, Groupie.
  • Familiarity with Android TV / Fire TV development.
  • Knowledge of streaming video, codecs, and DRM.
  • Experience maintaining large modularized codebases.
  • Use of performance evaluation tools like Android Profiler.
  • Skills in Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Dependency Injection, Gradle, Databases, Reactive paradigms, and coroutines.

The annual salary range in Seattle, WA is $159,500 - $213,900; in San Francisco, CA is $166,800 - $223,600. Actual offers depend on internal equity, location, skills, and experience. Compensation may include bonuses and incentives, along with comprehensive benefits.
