As a Principal Software Engineer in Test, you will be working with motivated, diverse, and knowledgeable development teams to deliver world-class products. You will be responsible for creating test strategies and test plans and delivering on those strategies and plans for the next generation of Neuromodulation software products. This role requires the ability to work as part of a team to realize complex, innovative, and high reliability systems that improve the quality of life of people around the world. This is a highly trusted position that requires an individual to thoughtfully develop software with state-of-the-art software test automation practices, energy, and a passion to win.

A Day in the Life
• Create test strategies and plans for testing Android applications
• Design, develop, and execute test automation in an agile environment
• Lead teams of software test engineers to deliver on test strategies and plans
• Work with agile teams in multiple sites
• Create and document all aspects of the software engineering processes for products under development, incorporating the highest quality standards, cost effectiveness, and measurable efficiency
• Meet all project milestones and deliverables, as required by the project leadership
• Provide concise, timely, and accurate reports and status of all test activities
• Participate in continuous process improvement activities
• Keep abreast of technical and industry trends related to software design and development

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities.
  • Determines systems software design requirements.
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
  • Generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures.
  • May work across a variety of software lifecycle activities as determined by program needs.

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM:An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Typically manages major / moderately complex projects, involving delegation of work and review of work products, at times acting as a team leader.

Required Knowledge and Experience:Requires mastery of a specialty area and full knowledge of industry practices, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have broad knowledge of project management.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$148,000.00 - $222,000.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
