Job summary

OfficeSpace is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to shape the future of our workplace platform. You will architect scalable systems, mentor engineers, and drive AI‑powered engineering workflows from discovery to production.

This hands‑on leadership role focuses on reliability, security, and performance to scale with enterprise customers. You will collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering Leadership, and R&D Architecture to deliver cohesive technical solutions and raise the engineering bar

Qualifications

• 7+ years building modern full‑stack applications.
• Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and React, or equivalent
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems serving enterprise customers.
• Deep understanding of API design using GraphQL, REST, or similar technologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and modern data technologies including Kafka, BigQuery, Flink, Redis, Elasticsearch, or comparable tools.
• Proven ability to optimise application performance through benchmarking, observability, and scalability engineering.
• Experience designing, building, or customizing AI‑enabled engineering workflows—not simply using AI assistants.
• Demonstrated success leading engineering teams through technical delivery, sprint execution, and architectural decision‑making.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of high‑performance applications using Ruby on Rails, React, and modern cloud technologies.
• Build scalable, maintainable software that supports enterprise customers across a rapidly growing platform.
• Design AI‑assisted engineering tools, workflows, and automation that improve developer productivity, code quality, and customer outcomes.
• Own projects end‑to‑end—from technical discovery through production deployment and long‑term ownership.
• Shift quality left by embedding automated testing, code quality practices, and continuous validation early in the development lifecycle.
• Drive predictable delivery by managing scope, balancing technical debt, protecting sprint commitments, and reducing reactive work.
