Job summary

Fifth Third Bank in Farmington Hills, MI, is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the Agentic Engineering team. You will own the execution of meaningful parts of the platform, mentor engineers, and drive designs from prototype to production.

Strong hands-on coding in Python and TypeScript is expected, with a track record of shipping reliable production systems and setting high technical standards in a collaborative environment. This hybrid role requires onsite presence in Farmington Hills, MI.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python and/or TypeScript.
• Track record of leading technical delivery and shipping complex systems.
• Experience building agentic or multi-step automated systems.
• Ability to establish reusable patterns and technical direction.
• Experience designing for non-deterministic behavior, edge cases, and failure, with testing and observability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of a workstream — design and implement production agents and services from prototype to production.
• Set and uphold engineering standards for agent patterns, tool integration, testing, code quality, and observability.
• Build the agent platform hands-on — shared services and protocols enabling agent discovery and composition.
• Stay deep in the code, prototyping hard problems and pairing with engineers.
• Mentor and review — guide engineers through design and code reviews and unblock technical issues.
• Break work into shippable increments by translating architecture into actionable plans.
