Job summary

A growing Phoenix-based healthcare technology company is hiring a Director of Engineering to serve as its senior development leader. The platform is built and in-market. This role owns its stability, security, and growth: leading a small team, setting long-term technical direction, and staying hands-on in the code.

What You’ll Do:

• Serve as the company’s senior development leader, reporting to the President


• Stay hands-on across back-end, full-stack, and mobile development


• Lead a small team, including a full-time Product Manager and two part-time contract developers


• Partner with Product Management, which owns the roadmap and sprint cycles


• Oversee internal ticketing, lead root-cause analysis, and own the QA function


• Maintain and improve integrations with payroll and HRIS systems that bring employee census data into the platform


• Assess the department, define long-term technical goals, and make hiring recommendations


• Drive security and compliance efforts, including SOC 2

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong back-end development background with full-stack experience


• Mobile development experience with React Native


• Hands-on experience with AWS, Twilio, and GitHub


• Experience leading developers and managing contract resources


• Experience building or supporting integrations with payroll, HRIS, or other third-party data systems


• Comfort owning QA, ticket triage, and root-cause analysis in a lean environment


• SOC 2 audit experience strongly preferred, ideally in healthcare, financial services, or another regulated industry


• A builder mindset and comfort being the top technical voice in a small, growing company


• Location: Phoenix, AZ (hybrid); 3 days remote, and fully remote June-September
