Job summary

Nomura in New York is seeking an experienced engineering lead to deliver agile trading technology for Prime and Equities desks. This role translates complex requirements into scalable technical solutions while guiding a small development team and maintaining direct stakeholder relationships with trading desks.

You will mentor developers, collaborate with global teams, ensure reliability and performance, and support regulatory/compliance needs in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in financial services technology, preferably in trading or prime services.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • CI/CD practices and React development a plus.
  • Proven team leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work directly with business stakeholders.
  • Understanding of trading workflows and financial markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 2-3 developers in delivering trading tools and enhancements using Python, React, SQL, and CI/CD frameworks.
  • Partner directly with trading desks to gather requirements, prioritize features, and deliver solutions in an agile manner.
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership across the US region.
  • Collaborate with global trading tools teams in Japan, AEJ, and EMEA regions.
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, and compliance with trading desk operational requirements.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate technical concepts to non-technical business users.
  • Work core trading hours (8:30 AM - 5:30 PM EST) with flexibility for market events and global coordination.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $160,000 and $190,000 annually. * (see below footnote for additional compensation and benefits information).

Role Description

*base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, discretionary awards and eligibility for commissions for applicable sales roles in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
