Job summary

CMC Rescue, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Soft Goods Design Engineer to drive the design, prototyping, testing, and production launch of textile-based PPE for rope rescue and technical rescue markets.

You will own product specifications and lead cross-functional reviews to ensure safety and manufacturability. The role requires CAD proficiency and hands-on sewing/fabrication, with a track record of bringing soft goods from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Textile Engineering, Product Design or related field.
• 5+ years in product development, specifically soft goods PPE (harnesses, bags, straps).
• Experience taking products from concept through production and launch.
• Ability to create and interpret technical docs and manufacturing packages.
• Proficiency CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and hands-on prototype fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of soft goods products (harnesses, belts) for rope rescue and related markets.
• Develop prototypes, specify materials, stitching methods, and construction details.
• Plan and conduct testing, validation, and certification support.
• Create and manage engineering documentation and BOMs; collaborate with partners.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional design reviews.
