CMC Rescue Inc. in Santa Barbara, CA is seeking an experienced Design Engineering Manager to lead the development of innovative professional rescue products from concept to launch.

This on-site role combines hands-on technical leadership, people management, and cross-functional product development ownership. You will guide design, verification, and transfer, ensure safety, regulatory compliance, cost targets, and manufacturability while mentoring a growing team of engineers in PPE, rope access

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Experience: 7 to 11+ years of progressive mechanical engineering and product development experience, including launching products.
• Product Development Expertise: Led cross-functional development of complex physical products in a structured stage-gate process; safety-critical or regulated products preferred.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD and product data management tools; analyze data to support decisions.
• Core Competencies: Mechanical design, GD&T, design for manufacture and assembly, prototyping, risk management, verification and validation, design transfer.
• Leadership Competencies: Ability to lead teams, make decisions under uncertainty, and communicate across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsabilités

• Lead development programs from opportunity definition through to commercial launch.
• Mentor and develop a growing engineering team for PPE and rescue hardware.
• Collaborate with product management, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and end users to meet requirements and timelines.
• Review and approve requirements, risk analyses, designs, tests, and documentation for safety and manufacturability.
• Define development plans, milestones, budgets, risks, and decision points to stay on scope and cost targets.
