Job summary

Contra Costa County's Employment and Human Services Department is seeking four Social Work Supervisor II positions to lead teams of Social Worker II & III professionals and manage programs with a focus on child welfare and risk assessment. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and a California motor vehicle operator’s license, with at least three years of full-time complex social casework experience.

Strong writing, communication, and coaching skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology with a specialization in Marriage, Family Therapy or related social/human services field.
• California driver’s license required; out-of-state accepted during application.
• Three years of full-time complex social casework experience in a public or private human services agency.

Responsibilities

• Supervising a team of Social Worker II & III professionals, along with clerical and support personnel
• Establishing clear performance expectations, tracking and coaching staff progress, and resolving conflicts effectively
• Managing individual programs and facilitating both individual supervision meetings and group meetings
• Understanding and interpreting County, State, and Federal Child Welfare policies and training staff on policy and protocol implementation
• Participating in inter-agency meetings and County committees relevant to Child Welfare and juvenile dependency
