Job summary

J&T Business Consulting is seeking an SMT Process Engineer in Seymour, CT, to lead process development and optimization for high-reliability EMS/PCBA manufacturing. The role focuses on yield improvement, line efficiency, and NPI readiness, with mentoring responsibilities for junior staff.

You will collaborate across engineering, operations, and quality to ensure robust processes, adherence to IPC standards, and successful customer engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical/electrical/manufacturing/industrial engineering.
• Hands-on SMT process engineering experience in EMS/PCBA environment preferred.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards and Lean/Six Sigma problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end SMT line design, execution, and optimization including paste printing, placement, reflow, SPI, AOI, and X-ray inspection.
• Own process capability analysis, first-pass yield tracking, defect reduction, and throughput increases using Lean/Six Sigma.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, process control plans, and PFMEAs; drive CAPA in response to issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, and maintenance.
• Lead NPI activities with customer design teams to ensure robust DFM reviews and smooth ramp-ups.
