Allied National is seeking a Medical Underwriting Manager to lead the small group underwriting team, oversee daily operations, and ensure accurate and timely underwriting decisions for new business and renewals.

The role emphasizes risk assessment, rate setting, workflow optimization, staff development, quality assurance, and collaboration with sales, GAs, agents, and program managers to maintain high service standards.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 5 years supervisory or people-management experience.
• Experience with Small Group and Data Base Underwriting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and varying workloads.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and mentor underwriting staff to ensure consistent high performance and engagement.
• Oversee underwriting activities for new business, renewals, rescission reviews, and policy issuance.
• Establish and maintain relationships with sales and external stakeholders to support the dynamic relationship between sales, GAs, agents, and program managers.
• Analyze workflows to identify process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Review underwriting reports, renewal activity, and medical cost data to support sound decision-making and underwriting performance.
