Job summary

AOA seeks a Senior Design Engineer for Show Production in Burbank, CA. You will own the design, fabrication, and integration of show elements, including effects, mechanics, and control systems, from concept through commissioning.

You will lead budgets, schedules, and cross-disciplinary collaboration while mentoring junior designers and coordinating with clients to ensure flawless show execution.

Qualifications

• Senior design and engineering mastery across complex show production elements.
• Strong CAD fluency in Fusion and proficiency in Illustrator.
• Ability to hand-code embedded systems (Arduino, Raspberry Pi) without AI-generated code.
• Hands-on fabrication experience with wiring and programming show elements.
• Experience owning budgets and schedules and communicating risks.
• Mentorship and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer integrated show elements from concept to installation.
• Own budget and schedule, flag risks, communicate trade-offs.
• Create facility interface data for power, structure, and controls.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and clients, present progress.
• Produce fabrication-ready drawings in Fusion; enable fabrication without guesswork.
• Program and tune control systems on-site to synchronize with shows.
• Troubleshoot field issues under tight schedules and limited resources.
• Document finished elements for long-term operations and maintenance.
• Lead, guide, and mentor other designers on the team.
