Job summary

AOA is seeking a Design Engineer for Show Production in Burbank, CA. You will design, engineer, fabricate, and install special effects and illusions for attractions and immersive experiences, taking concepts through to production-ready reality.

You will own on-site integration, collaborate with multiple disciplines, manage fabrication drawings in Fusion, and ensure safety, reliability, and low maintenance across daily operations. Occasional travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

• Design and engineering mastery across show elements and effects.
• Advanced CAD fluency in Fusion and strong Illustrator skills.
• Hands-on fabrication experience with wiring and programming elements.
• Ability to design within budgets and schedules and communicate risks.
• Portfolio of special effects or show elements personally designed.
• Willing and able to travel and work on-site during installation.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer show elements from concept through installation.
• Create fabrication-ready drawings and models in Fusion.
• Program and tune control systems on-site to sync with show.
• Coordinate with show set, ride, media, and controls engineering.
• Troubleshoot field issues under tight schedules.
• Document elements for long-term maintenance.
• Ensure safety, reliability, and low maintenance in design.
• Maintain interfaces data for power, structure, and controls.
