Job summary

ASH Hotels, operated by ASH People LLC, seeks a Lead Service Bartender to set the standard for the bar and café program and to anchor the team that brings it to life. You will craft cocktails, pour wine and beer, and deliver full food service while training staff and acting as shift lead when a manager isn’t on the floor.

The ideal candidate is a craftsman and mentor who guides guests through the menu, oversees pours and inventory, and maintains responsible service while ensuring high standards

Qualifications

• 2+ years of bartending and serving experience in a restaurant, bar, or hotel setting, with lead or supervisory experience preferred
• Advanced knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, wine, and beer; able to teach recipes and technique
• California RBS and Food Handler's certifications required, or obtained upon hire
• Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and inventory/ordering software
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a high-volume environment
• Excellent communication and multitasking under pressure
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Passion for hospitality, craft beverages, mentorship, and guest experience

Responsibilities

• Act as shift lead behind the bar, setting priorities and supporting the team during peak volume
• Train and mentor service bartenders on cocktail specs, service standards, and house procedures
• Serve as primary contact for bar questions when a manager is not present
• Provide input to management on scheduling and team performance
• Lead pre-shift briefings on specials, VIPs, and priorities
• Own inventory management for the bar program, conduct counts and place orders
• Maintain and evolve cocktail, wine, and beer programs with management
• Ensure bartenders pour, batch, and garnish to spec and perform quality checks
• Deliver full food and beverage service from order to table with correct timing
• Communicate allergens and modifications to kitchen staff
• Maintain knowledge of the menu to answer guest questions and train others
• Follow food handling, storage, and temperature protocols
• Supervise opening and closing bar procedures including cash reconciliation
