Job summary

ASH Hotels Venice Beach in California is seeking a Lead Service Bartender to build and lead our bar and café program. You will craft cocktails, pour wine and beer, and deliver full food service while mentoring the team and guiding shifts when managers aren’t on the floor.

The ideal candidate is a craftsman and mentor who sets the standard, manages pours and inventory, and ensures responsible service while coaching others during rush periods.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of bartending and serving experience in a restaurant, bar or hotel setting with lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, wine, and beer; ability to teach recipes and technique.
• California RBS certification and Food Handler's certification required, or obtained upon hire.
• Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and basic inventory/ordering software.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a high-volume environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Act as shift lead behind the bar, setting priorities and delegating stations.
• Train and mentor service bartenders on cocktail specs and standards.
• Serve as primary contact for bar questions when a manager is absent.
• Provide input on scheduling, staffing needs, and team performance.
• Lead pre-shift briefings on specials, VIPs, and service priorities.
• Own inventory management: counts, ordering, and waste control.
• Maintain cocktail, wine, and beer programs with quality checks.
• Ensure accurate timing and course sequencing between kitchen and bar.
