Job summary

Jewish-Family-and-Children's-Service is seeking a dedicated meals server for Rhoda Goldman Plaza. You will deliver meals to residents, set dining areas, and ensure dietary needs and kosher guidelines are met during service.

This full-time, non-exempt role offers competitive wages and opportunities for advancement, with requirements including English proficiency, a high school diploma, and background checks.

Qualifications

  • Server or senior facilities experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver meals promptly and courteously, ensuring residents' dietary needs are met.
  • Set tables and maintain cleanliness in dining areas following kosher cuisine.
  • Maintain clean, orderly and safe kitchen and dining room environment with proper storage of equipment and food.
  • Engage with residents and guests, answering questions about menu items and providing assistance as needed.
  • Assemble and deliver trays and to-go meals, ensuring they are presented attractively.
  • Clear dishes and utensils from tables during and after meal service, ensuring a tidy dining environment.
  • Work closely with kitchen staff to communicate special requests or dietary restrictions.
  • Handle more complex resident needs, addressing shift change, printing menus, reporting census, managing reservations, acting as a host(ess), supervising servers during service, rearranging assignments when absenteeism occurs, and any other tasks as assigned.

Pay Range: $25.73 per hour

Job Type: Full-Time, Non-exempt

Shifts and Schedule Available:

  • Friday - Tuesday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, or
  • Wednesday - Sunday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Server or senior facilities experience is preferred
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

What are the Qualifications?

  • Must undergo a Physical exam, Tuberculosis Screening, resulting in a negative TB diagnosis prior to employment, and Influenza Vaccination (required during flu season: September to March)
  • Must obtain clearance or exemption approval from the Department of Social Services following FBI and DOJ livescan background check prior to employment

What Will I Be Doing?

  • Maintain clean, orderly and safe kitchen and dining room environment by ensuring proper storage of equipment, food and accessories. Handle food and beverage to meet the health department and RCFE (title 22) expectations
  • Engage with residents and guests, answering questions about menu items and providing assistance as needed
  • Assemble and deliver trays and "to-go" meals, ensuring they are presented attractively
  • Clear dishes and utensils from tables during and after meal service, ensuring a tidy dining environment
  • Work closely with kitchen staff to communicate special requests or dietary restrictions
  • Handle more complex resident needs, addressing shift change, printing menus, reporting census, managing reservations, acting as a host(ess), supervising servers during service, rearranging assignments when absenteeism occurs, and any other tasks as assigned
