Job summary

Jewish Family and Children’s Services of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties is seeking a full‑time Life Enrichment Assistant at Rhoda Goldman Plaza to support daily activities for residents. You will help organize events, prepare spaces, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere focused on meaningful engagement.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with seniors, and ability to coordinate inclusive activities with occasional after-hours or weekend shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; 1–3 months related experience preferred; bachelor’s/master’s degree preferred.
  • Customer service experience and experience with seniors desired.
  • Must undergo a physical exam and TB screening with negative result; influenza vaccination during flu season.
  • Background check clearance from DSS via FBI/DOJ livescan; knowledge of abuse reporting (SOC341A) required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Life Enrichment with administrative tasks and planning daily activities and events for residents.
  • Set up and prepare activity areas and materials.
  • Engage residents in activities (games, crafts, exercise, outings) and adapt to individual needs.
  • Maintain a welcoming, hospitable environment and professional interactions.
  • Lead social events and assist with transportation and mobility during activities.

Pay Range: $26.78 per hour

Job Type: Full-time, Non-exempt with benefits

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday (9:00 AM - 5:30 PM)

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one (1) to three (3) months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred
What are the Qualifications?
  • Customer service experience and experience with seniors desired
  • Must undergo a Physical exam, Tuberculosis Screening, resulting in a negative TB diagnosis prior to employment, and Influenza Vaccination (required during flu season: September to March)
  • Must obtain clearance or exemption approval from the Department of Social Services following FBI and DOJ livescan background check prior to employment
  • Must read, understand and sign the Report of Suspected Physical Abuse of a Dependent Elder (SOC341A)

What Will I Be Doing?
  • Assist the Director of Life Enrichment in administrative tasks as well as planning, organizing, and facilitating daily activities, special events and outings for residents
  • Set up and prepare activity areas, ensuring all necessary materials and equipment are available
  • Engage residents in a variety of activities, including games, arts and crafts, exercise programs, and outings. Encourage participation and support residents in their engagement with activities, adapting as needed to meet individual preferences and abilities
  • Maintain a positive and friendly demeanor, fostering a welcoming environment for all residents; Provide exceptional hospitality and professionalism in all interactions
  • Participate and lead social events, outings, and other destinations according to a scheduled itinerary. Assist with transportation and mobility needs of residents during activities. Assist residents with entering and exiting vehicles safely and respectfully
