Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Wind Technician to maintain and repair GE wind turbine generators at multiple IL hub sites. The role involves daily turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs.

You will execute contractual obligations, support site operations, mentor peers, and travel locally to Charleston, Fithian, and Sibley sites. Strong EHS knowledge and ability to read schematics are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass a Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • 4+ years of wind troubleshooting experience and 1+ year in an EHS, SQC, or Lead role, or 5+ years of wind troubleshooting experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time
  • Ability to climb towers up to 300 feet daily
  • Must meet manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs including required gear
  • Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
  • Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and take initiative
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and on-call schedules
  • Occasional overnight availability as required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable

Responsibilities

  • Maintain optimal function and output at wind sites through daily turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs
  • Execute contractual obligations and customer-required activities involving electrical and mechanical equipment in GE wind turbine generators
  • Support site operations, daily scheduling, planning, technician development, site leadership, and customer service with minimal supervision
  • Apply knowledge of variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines and converter parts
  • Read, understand, and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
  • Follow Environmental Health and Safety processes, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
  • Perform diagnostic analysis and develop plans for timely resolution
  • Document work using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with GE's remote operations center when necessary
  • Mentor peers
  • Partner and communicate with the Site/Hub Manager regarding contract requirements, timelines, and GE excellence
  • Travel locally among Charleston, Fithian, and Sibley wind sites within Hub IL3
