Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Wind Technician to service and maintain turbines across Texas Hub 9. You will execute contractual obligations, diagnose electrical and hydraulic issues, and perform mechanical repairs at wind sites. You will document work via our reporting system and coordinate with GE's remote operations center.

The role requires climbing towers, lifting up to 45 lbs, and a valid driver's license. Flexibility for rotating shifts and on-call duties is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic.
  • OR minimum of 2 years of work experience inclusive of hydraulic and electrical experience, basic tools, and a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift repetitive weight up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to climb towers of 300+ feet regularly.
  • Meet manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs including gear.
  • Understand electrical schematic drawings, manuals, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to work in industrial facilities.
  • Flexible to rotating shifts and on-call per site needs.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Completion of a drug screen where applicable.
  • Desired: Associate/Bachelor in Technical, Electrical, or Electronics.
  • Desired: Technical Certification in Wind Energy.
  • Desired: Wind turbine experience.
  • Desired: Electrical, mechanical, hydraulic experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute contractual obligations according to customer requirements and site activities
  • Maintain, repair, or replace parts to correct malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines
  • Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
  • Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
  • Work with site leadership, the Site Lead, and Manager to meet contract requirements and timelines
  • Work at all wind sites within Texas Hub 9 and report to any assigned site within the hub

  • Ability and willingness to climb towers of 300+ feet regularly
  • Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs. including required gear
  • Understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
  • Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on‑call per site needs
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
