Job summary

Fervo Energy is seeking a Seismologist to lead design, deployment, and processing of surface and borehole seismic networks across our EGS portfolio. You will own arrays of geophones and broadband seismometers from geometry through calibration and continuous processing.

Responsibilities include running detection, location, and catalog development with HypoDD and GrowClust, integrating DAS where applicable, and developing hazard-aware catalogs to support reservoir models and regulatory engagement.

Qualifications

• PhD in Geophysics, Seismology, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
• Working proficiency with HypoDD and GrowClust for relocation and clustering.
• Strong background in surface and borehole seismic monitoring and calibration.
• Knowledge of source analysis, moment tensors, and magnitude estimation.
• Experience with Python seismic processing and Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain surface and borehole seismic networks.
• Set geometry and instrumentation to meet detection and location targets.
• Run automated detection, phase picking, and event association.
• Build and maintain velocity models and station corrections.
• Run HypoDD relocations and GrowClust clustering for catalogs.
• Incorporate DAS data where applicable and develop joint processing.
• Develop real-time hazard algorithms and maintain regulatory-ready catalogs.
