Job summary

Gen is seeking a Principal Engineer, Security Logging & Detection to lead the engineering, reliability, and evolution of its security telemetry platforms. You will partner with Security Operations, Incident Response, and Infrastructure teams to design resilient telemetry solutions across cloud, on‑premises, and hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive experience in Security Engineering, Platform Engineering, Logging, Observability, or related disciplines.
• Strong understanding of security logging architectures and telemetry pipelines.
• Experience building, operating, and scaling distributed systems or enterprise data pipelines.
• Experience with Security Operations, Threat Detection, Incident Response, or Security Analytics teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner and architectural leader for Security Logging & Detection capabilities.
• Design, build, and improve logging pipelines and telemetry services across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
• Own collection, parsing, normalization, enrichment, routing, retention, and access patterns for security telemetry.
• Ensure reliability, integrity, and availability of log data for threat detection, investigations, and monitoring.
• Drive automation and engineering best practices to improve scalability, consistency, and platform reliability.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI-enabled technologies to improve security workflows and reporting.
• Collaborate with Security Operations, Incident Response, Infrastructure, and Platform Engineering teams to improve telemetry coverage.
• Define technical standards, documentation, and processes to improve resilience and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across initiatives and teams.
