Job summary

Gen is seeking a Principal Engineer, Security Logging & Detection to lead the architecture and evolution of our security telemetry platforms. You will collaborate with Security Operations, Incident Response, and Platform Engineering to design scalable, secure logging pipelines across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• Extensive experience in Security Engineering, Platform Engineering, Logging, Observability, or Detection Engineering.
• Strong understanding of security logging architectures and telemetry pipelines.
• Experience building, operating, and scaling distributed systems or enterprise data pipelines.
• Experience collaborating with Security Operations, Threat Detection, Incident Response, or Security Analytics teams.
• Strong technical leadership with ability to influence architecture across teams.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Owns the technical lead and architecture for Security Logging & Detection capabilities.
• Designs and improves logging pipelines across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
• Manages collection, parsing, normalization, enrichment, routing, retention, and access patterns for security telemetry.
• Ensures reliability and availability of log data for threat detection, investigations, and monitoring.
• Drives automation and engineering best practices to boost scalability and platform reliability.
• Explores AI-enabled tools to enhance security engineering workflows and reporting.
• Partners with Security Operations, Incident Response, Infrastructure, and software teams to improve telemetry coverage.
• Defines standards, documentation, and processes for maintainability and resilience.
• Mentors engineers and leads cross-functional initiatives.
