Job summary

MSD seeks a Principal Scientist to lead physics-based modeling within the Device Product Assessment and Innovation team. You will connect drug-delivery device physics with translational PK/PD, guide specifications, and reduce physical testing through digital twins.

Responsibilities include advancing reusable models, cross-functional leadership, and contributing to regulatory submissions, publications, and consortia. Hybrid work and competitive compensation are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering or related field.
• Extensive physics-based modeling and simulation experience addressing complex problems.
• Device or drug delivery experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Set cross-program modeling strategy linking device physics with translational PK/PD insights.
• Lead first-principles modeling of formulation mechanics, flow paths, actuation, and tissue interactions.
• Set model development, verification, validation, and uncertainty standards; oversee scientific review for credible results.
• Partner with translational and PK/PD experts to integrate properties with exposure and biological response.
• Advance reusable models and data workflows; mentor scientists and drive external collaborations.
• Lead modeling contributions to design controls, validation protocols, and regulatory submissions.
