Job summary

Nbutexas is seeking an experienced Lead School Nurse (RN) to provide clinical leadership for a Wilton, Connecticut school health program. This role blends hands-on nursing with team leadership, program oversight, and community collaboration.

You will lead school nursing staff, develop individualized health care plans, coordinate care for students with complex needs, ensure immunization and reporting compliance, and partner with the School Medical Advisor on protocols.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN license in good standing.
• BSN required as a baseline credential.
• CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.
• Significant clinical nursing experience.
• Leadership or supervisory experience in clinical or educational settings.
• Experience caring for students with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support, and provide clinical guidance to school nursing staff.
• Develop and oversee Individualized Health Care Plans and Emergency Health Care Plans.
• Coordinate care for students with chronic, complex, and medically fragile conditions.
• Ensure compliance with immunization requirements, screenings, health records, and reporting.
• Collaborate with School Medical Advisor on standing orders, protocols, and disease surveillance.
• Participate in PPT, 504, emergency preparedness, and interdisciplinary meetings.
• Coordinate with families, physicians, administrators, and public health agencies.
• Provide direct student nursing care and respond to emergencies when needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Connecticut Registered Nurse license
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
• Significant clinical nursing experience
• Leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical or educational environment
• Experience managing patients or students with complex medical needs
• Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and applicable school health requirements
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

Must Haves

Preferred Background & Skills

• Previous school nursing experience
• Pediatric, public health, or community health nursing background
• Previous experience leading or supervising RNs or clinical staff
• Knowledge of Connecticut school health regulations
• Experience with medically fragile children
• Familiarity with PPT/504 processes
• Experience developing clinical policies, protocols, or staff education
• Strong conflict-resolution and parent communication skills
