Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking an experienced custodian supervisor to perform intermediate to high level custodial work in maintaining the cleanliness of school buildings and grounds. Duties include supervising custodial staff, ensuring doors are secured, cleaning classrooms, cafeterias, restrooms, and completing routine inspections.

The role requires ability to work with various groups for events, respond to maintenance needs, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

GED or some high school required; considerable custodial experience preferred.
High school diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

May serve as head custodian in an elementary school or head night custodian in a middle or high school.
Supervise custodial workers; clean interiors and maintain school grounds.
Ensure doors are locked and secured; clean classrooms, carpets, cafeterias, restrooms, hallways; receive deliveries.
Work with PTA, churches, and other groups for events.
Coordinate with Fire Marshal and sprinkler inspections.
Inspect and replace lights; maintain building systems.
Assist when other staff are out and set up for events.
