Job summary

Applitrack and the district invite applications for the Head Custodian at South Elementary School. This leadership role oversees daily custodial operations, coordinates event setups, and ensures safe, clean facilities for students and staff.

Internal candidates only. The role requires supervisory experience, knowledge of green cleaning practices, and the ability to collaborate with the Facilities Manager and school administration to meet the school's needs.

Qualifications

• Three to five years' experience as a custodian in a public school or commensurate experience in an institutional setting in a field related to supporting the work of facilities operations.
• Knowledge of best practices in cleaning and maintaining public schools, including laws and regulations related to green cleaning.
• Proactively anticipates needs of the school staff.
• Must provide superior services for students, staff and the community and demonstrate an exemplary attitude.
• Daily contact will be required with all stakeholders, as a regular dialog is required to achieve optimum success.

Responsibilities

• Maintains positive and productive working relationships with school and district administrators, staff, students, parents and community members.Communicates timely and effectively with the school administration for scheduling of special events and setups for school activities.
• Works cooperatively with the Facilities Manager or his/her designee to coordinate special events after school including scheduling of overtime.
• Instructs custodial staff on performance standards, custodial methods and provides feedback on the quality of the work of the building custodians to the Facilities Manager.
• Oversees and supervises the successful implementation of the daily operating routine for custodial operations for their school.Participates in the recruitment and selection of custodial staff.
• Provides functional guidance to co-workers with the daily operating routine and other needs of the school as they arise. Monitors AESOP for custodians and coordinates coverage with the Facilities Manager or his/her designee as required.
• Communicates maintenance needs by creating work requests through Zendesk and then coordinates the completion of the repairs with the Facilities Manager or his/her designee.
• Communicates maintenance needs for the school by creating work requests through Zendesk for grounds care needs of areas immediately outside of their building including exterior lots, sidewalks and play areas and communicates with the Facilities Manager or his/her designee.
• Coordinates with the Facilities Manager or his/her designee for assistance with weather related emergencies including snow plowing, floods, etc.
• Assists the Facilities Manager or his/her designee with the procurement of all custodial supplies to efficiently control the inventory and oversee proper use of all custodial products in our Green Cleaning Program.
• Communicates building and equipment needs to improve efficiency, quality and aesthetics to the Facilities Manager.
• Performs tasks related to safety on the school campus as needed.
• Performs all custodial duties as required, and all other duties as assigned by the administration.
