Job summary

Applitrack in Tucson, AZ is seeking an Elementary Head Custodian (Custodial Category C) to oversee daily custodial operations under the Building Administrator and the Coordinator of Custodial.

The role requires a High School Diploma and at least 1 year of custodial experience, plus the ability to read work orders, operate cleaning equipment, and maintain a safe, clean learning environment for students and staff. This is a 12-month ESSO position with on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required prior to start date.
• One-year custodial experience required.
• Ability to read and understand work orders, safety procedures, equipment manuals, and other job-related materials.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public; and accurately complete required documentation.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to safely operate industrial cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, burnishers, vacuums).
• Ability to use standard hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily custodial duties including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, trash removal, restocking supplies, and restroom sanitation.
• Complete semi-annual and annual deep cleaning and project duties (floor stripping/waxing, carpet cleaning, graffiti removal).
• Support daily and special event setups (furniture arrangement, cafeteria prep/cleanup, equipment staging).
• Conduct minor facility maintenance (replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, filters; furniture repair; touch-up painting).
• Complete inspections of building systems, mobile classrooms, alarms, roofs, boilers; complete paperwork.
• Maintain on-call status to respond to emergencies after hours and during severe weather events.
• Initiate requests for supplies and parts; obtain quotes from approved vendors.
