Job summary

Spring Lake Park Schools is seeking a Head Custodian to oversee daily custodial operations and maintain a sanitary, safe facility for students and staff. The role involves supervising custodians, coordinating schedules, and ensuring timely completion of tasks across multiple campuses.

Responsibilities include maintaining HVAC preventative maintenance, inventory, safety compliance, and coordinating with principals on building needs.

Qualifications

• High School or Vocational Diploma required or equivalent.
• Experience in building management/maintenance preferred.
• Must hold MN driver’s license or valid equivalent.
• 2nd Class Boilers license or higher is required.
• Ability to pass a pre-work physical.

Responsibilities

• cleans assigned school facilities daily to maintain sanitary, safe environment
• deliver items and materials to ensure supplies reach the right people
• inform staff and supervisors about activities, safety and maintenance
• inspect facilities to ensure safe operations and clean condition
• lead and assist in organizing custodial work schedules and evaluations
• maintain substitute lists and schedule substitutes as needed
• maintain preventative maintenance for HVAC equipment including filters
• oversee minor maintenance by custodial staff
• maintain inventory of supplies and develop requisitions
• meet with principals to report building needs
• respond to safety/operational concerns to resolve issues
• evaluate custodians using performance reports
• check buildings for proper cleaning and safety
• arrange furniture/equipment for meetings and events
• keep records of employee time and overtime
• work with vendors and contractors to improve work environment
• develop work orders with principals
• solicit price proposals for supplies/equipment
