Job summary

Geary County USD 475 is looking for a Lead Cook at Junction City High School to oversee kitchen operations, ensure safety standards, and support staff. The role requires experience in large scale cooking and adherence to state and federal guidelines.

You will work with Kitchen Managers to address staffing and equipment needs, maintain records, and ensure timely, high-quality meals for students. A strong commitment to food safety and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and the ability to pass the USD 475 Math test.
• Experience in large scale cooking.
• Food Safety Basics class within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that food quality is up to standards.
• Ensure that food safety procedures are being followed by fellow employees.
• Ensure that safety in general is being practiced by all employees.
• Prepare entrees, vegetables, and other foods in accordance with schedules and quality.
• Use standardized recipes to prepare food items.
• Assist with service as needed, using established portion control standards.
• Work with cooks and/or other employees in coordinating and directing activities to promote a smooth kitchen operation.
• Organize work to accomplish responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner.
