Vancouver Public Schools is seeking an Elementary School Building Operator for Franklin Elementary in Vancouver, WA. The role supports cleaning, HVAC, and building maintenance across a 12-month schedule, with non-exempt status and a day shift.

The position requires leadership for swing-shift staff, strong mechanical aptitude, and certifications in WISHA first aid and ISSAS district standards. Applicants must be prepared for reference checks and background screening.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years experience as a custodial assistant or swing shift custodian; strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Good mechanical aptitude, with the ability to learn to maintain the specific HVAC and other systems of the assigned school
• Demonstrated leadership ability
• Current WISHA approved first aid certification
• Current ISSAS district training and certification

Responsabilités

• Schedule work of swing shift custodial assistants; train and supervise them, inspect their work and participate in evaluations.
• Operate HVAC system of the assigned school; change belts, lubricate, and write work orders.
• Inspect building, grounds, and equipment for safety; perform minor repairs and write further work orders.
• Advise building principal on mechanical equipment and building maintenance matters.
• Inventory and order cleaning supplies; anticipate future needs.
