Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a capable Cashier/Stocker to perform sales, stocking, and lead duties in the absence of store leadership. You will handle transactions, assist customers, and help maintain displays and overall store appearance.

Responsibilities include unloading trucks, stocking shelves, ensuring plan-o-grams are followed, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for shoppers. Prior cash handling and customer service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for transactions and discounts.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to operate the IBM cash register and related scanning devices.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Familiarity with safety policies and store procedures.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise according to store procedures.
• Receive, open, and unpack shipments; stock and display items.
• Restock returned merchandise and manage inventory flow.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise and answer questions.
• Maintain cleanliness of the front end, stockroom, and restrooms.
• Operate the cash register, total purchases, and bag items.
• Provide refunds or overrides when authorized by management.
• Support in maintaining plan-o-grams and displays.
• Open or close the store under supervisor direction.
• Ensure a safe and secure working environment.
