Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Cashier/Stocker to support store operations, customer service, and cash handling. The role includes unloading trucks, stocking shelves, maintaining plan-o-grams, and assisting customers. In the absence of store leadership, you may sign refunds and manage cash procedures.

Responsibilities emphasize protecting assets, maintaining a clean, organized store, and contributing to a safe shopping environment while delivering strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; six months of supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong cash handling and deposit control knowledge.
• Experience with IBM cash registers.
• Ability to perform basic math operations (addition, subtraction, percentages).
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to store procedures.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock merchandise and build displays; rotate stock.
• Restock returned merchandise and maintain shelves.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Maintain front end counters and assist with checkout.
• Operate cash register, total purchases, and bag merchandise.
• Collect payment and make change.
• Keep store clean and safe; ensure organized environment.
• Open/close store under directions from Area Manager.
• Authorize refunds/overrides in absence of store managers.
