Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a capable Cashier/Stocker to lead in the absence of store leadership. You will greet customers, manage transactions, stock shelves, and support plan-o-grams while helping maintain a clean, safe store environment.

Responsibilities include unloading trucks, cashiering, bailing cardboard, and assisting in merchandising and loss-prevention efforts. The role emphasizes customer service leadership and adherence to company procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers and related checkout hardware.
• Understanding of cash control, security practices, and loss prevention.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to the store's prescribed process.
• Receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes per process.
• Stock, rotate, and face merchandise; build displays.
• Restock returned merchandise; maintain stock levels.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Help customers locate merchandise and answer questions.
• Maintain cleanliness: dust, mop, empty trash, clean restrooms and stockroom.
• Open/close the store as directed by Area Manager; authorize refunds in absence of managers.
