Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Detroit is seeking a Lead Sales Associate to support store operations, deliver excellent customer service, and help drive daily retail activities. This part-time role requires leadership and hands-on involvement across sales, banking, and inventory management.

You will assist management, supervise staff in their absence, maintain displays, handle transactions, and contribute to a positive, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak, write and understand English for effective communication.
• Retail experience required as part of qualification.
• Basic computer skills including POS system and payroll program.

Responsibilities

• Support management with product sales and acquisition.
• Implement store opening and closing procedures.
• Handle banking and daily deposits.
• Execute strategies to meet product acquisition, production and sales goals.
• Manage product rotation process and inventory turnover.
• Create an enjoyable shopping experience with positive customer service.
• Handle customer complaints as needed.
• Maintain displays and floor layout plans.
• Provide direction to staff in absence of management.
• Communicate effectively with store management regarding operations.
