Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a versatile Cashier/Stocker who can lead in the absence of the Store Manager. You will unload trucks, stock shelves, manage plan-o-grams, and provide exemplary customer service while protecting assets.

Responsibilities include operating the cash register, handling payments, and assisting customers. The role requires teamwork, accuracy, and adherence to SOPs; a valid high school diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, etc.).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to the prescribed process for the store.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock merchandise and build displays; rotate and face; restock as needed.
• Order zones and drop shipment categories as assigned by the Store Manager.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Operate cash register and scan items; bag merchandise and collect payment.
• Greet customers entering the store; maintain a clean front end.
• Open/close the store under direction of Area Manager.
• Authorize refunds and overrides in the absence of the Store Manager; manage cash and deposits.
