Job summary

Goodwill-Central-Coast seeks a friendly Sales Associate to support store operations and assist customers and donors on the sales floor. You will greet shoppers, answer questions, ring up purchases, and help maintain a clean, organized store.

In the absence of the Store Manager, you may cover duties such as opening/closing procedures and donations processing. A high school diploma and at least six months in retail is preferred; English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Six months sales associate experience or equivalent.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Basic math proficiency.
• English communication skills required.
• Spanish knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee basic store operations in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager (including bank deposits).
• Provide guidance to staff on sales questions or issues; inform manager of personnel-related problems.
• Greet customers; offer assistance and help with product selections.
• Ring up sales; follow cash handling procedures.
• Perform opening/closing procedures.
• Place/display inventory on the sales floor; keep area neat and safe.
• Assist with stock rotation and markdowns as directed.
• Prepare store donations and rotated merchandise for transfer.
• Keep the sales floor clean and organized; ensure a safe environment for shoppers and staff.
• Communicate problems, complaints, theft, and safety issues to the Store Manager.
