Job summary

Keolis Commuter Services is seeking a Safety Trainer in Dania, FL to support leadership in safety culture and operator training for fixed route service. The role involves delivering behind-the-wheel instruction and safety classes for new hires.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of safety/training experience.
  • Perform DOT mandatory Drug and Alcohol testing.
  • Must have and maintain qualifications to operate all equipment used at the location.
  • Must have and maintain all required licenses and certifications.
  • Must hold Keolis Behind-the-Wheel Trainer Certification or acquire during the first 60 days.
  • Excellent customer service record, with no customer complaints in the previous twelve (12) months.
  • Must successfully pass the background screening process including an MVR check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Safety Manager with leadership and direction on safety and safety culture within the location.
  • Lead and direct the safety and training classes for new hires for fixed route service.
  • Provide behind-the-wheel training for new operators and trainees as needed.
  • Must be able to respond to emails and conduct individual meetings as needed.
  • Provide coaching to operators with unsafe driving behavior.
  • Provide behind-the-wheel refresher training as directed.
  • Performs ride checks and road observations as requested.
  • Submit accident documentation to appropriate parties for claim processing.
  • Evaluates new operator driving skills using appropriate checklists and evaluation forms.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating Safety Meetings.
  • Make sure that the proper filing for all files is current and up to date.
  • Recognizes and reports safe and unsafe acts conditions to management.
  • Provides feedback to Safety Manager, GM, Operations Manager, and other appropriate staff regarding training needs.
  • Assists training department in identifying additional or refresher training needs based on current trends within the employee base.
  • Be able to retain OSHA certification and help implement OSHA standards on site.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Maintenance Employees may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in a ventilated maintenance shop and may work with personal computers, laptops, electronic hand-held devices, complex electrical schematics, diagnostic software and testing devices, and other heavy machinery.
  • Office Staff may work indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities, including offices and cubicle spaces equipped with a telephone and computer and may entail typing or looking at a computer screen.
