Job summary

Keolis Commuter Services in Pittsfield, MA is seeking a hands-on maintenance/utility worker under the CBA. You will fuel vehicles, perform basic repairs, clean interiors, and keep the fleet ready for service.

This role requires 21+ years of age, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a CDL or the ability to obtain one within 90 days. You’ll work outdoors, lift up to 50 pounds, and follow safety rules with the maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Must be over 21 years of age.

• Prior transit utility experience desired.

Responsibilities

• All vehicles fuelled and fluids topped for service.
• Vehicle interiors cleaned per contract.
• Emergency equipment stocked and functional (fire extinguisher, first aid kit).
• Vehicles parked according to facility plan.
• Fleet damage documented and reported to manager.
• Fuel island maintained and spills reported to manager.
• Work area maintained per OSHA and EPA regulations.
• Shop area cleaned daily; trash disposed of.
• Landscaping and lot cared for as needed.
• Post notices in vehicles as required by client.
• Assist maintenance staff and manager as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Hourly Wage Range: Per Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

Knowledge and Experience:

• Must be over 21 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must have CDL or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Prior transit utility experience desired

Skills:

• Handle basic maintenance, repairs and cleaning
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted
• Able to work without direct supervision
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods during shift

Key Accountabilities:

• All vehicles completely fueled, and fluids topped, ready for service
• Vehicle interiors cleaned according to the contract
• Vehicle emergency equipment (fire extinguisher, body-fluid kit, first aid kit) fully stocked and functional
• Vehicles parked according to facility parking plan
• Any fleet damage documented and communicated to the manager
• Fuel island maintained and kept clean, any spills immediately contained and reported to the manager
• Work area maintained according to all OSHA and EPA regulations
• Shop area cleaned, mopped and trash disposed of daily
• Landscaping and lot cleaned and cared for as needed
• Post notices in vehicles as required by client
• Assist maintenance staff and manager as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Safety

• Ensure that the Road Traffic Safety Management System (RTSMS) conforms to the requirements
• Ensure that the RTSMS processes are delivering their intended outputs
• Report to management on the performance of the RTSMS and on opportunities for improvement and on the need for change or innovation
• Ensure the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization
• Ensure the integrity of the RTSMS is maintained, when any changes to RTSMS are planned and implemented

• Operators/Drivers may work inside or outside vehicles and may operate vehicles for over 8 hours per day.
• Operations Supervisors and Managers may split their work between an office setting looking at a computer screen/electronic device and active transit field locations driving in a vehicle.
• Maintenance Employees may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in a ventilated maintenance shop and may work with personal computers, laptops, electronic hand-held devices, complex electrical schematics, diagnostic software and testing devices, and other heavy machinery.
• Office Staff may work indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities, including offices and cubicle spaces equipped with a telephone and computer and may entail typing or looking at a computer screen.
