Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard in Norfolk, VA seeks a Safety, Environmental and Health Coordinator to support OSHA, EPA, and ISO initiatives across shipyard operations. The role manages documentation, incident investigations, audits, data reporting, and health programs to foster a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety engineering, industrial hygiene or environmental science, or equivalent knowledge.
• Minimum of 5 years industrial operations experience; maritime experience preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, NAVSEA, and related regulations.
• Current driver's license with valid record for company vehicles.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update departmental documentation, procedures, and policies to comply with OSHA standards.
• Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action tracking.
• Provide support during OSHA, DEQ, NAVSEA, and customer audits.
• Collect environmental performance and emissions data and report it to management.
• Collaborate with shipyard and corporate management on department initiatives.
• Generate statistical reports, newsletters, and related information for management.
• Coordinate health initiatives aligned with OSHA guidelines, including illness prevention and pandemic planning.
• Ensure EPA compliance for hazardous waste, stormwater, and air emissions.
• Assist with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 program support including audits and documentation.
• Perform general admin, record-keeping, and reporting for departmental programs.
• Support safety events, drills, and recognition programs.
• Keep up to date with new legislation and safety standards.
