Job summary

The City of Tyler is seeking an experienced Equipment Operations Supervisor to oversee heavy equipment and light vehicles on public works projects. You will plan on-site work, maintain and inspect gear, and ensure safety protocols are followed.

This role requires five years of equipment experience, a valid Texas Class B CDL, and the ability to supervise crews, manage data in City Works and GIS, and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; relevant experience preferred.
• Minimum five years operating heavy equipment safely.
• Valid Texas Class B CDL with clean driving record.
• Ability to plan, supervise crews and manage safety.
• Experience with road maintenance equipment and processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee sealing of roadway cracks and asphalt operations.
• Supervise and coordinate assigned staff; assign and inspect work.
• Input and manage inspection data using City Works and GIS.
• Lead on-site safety checks and traffic control.
• Maintain equipment and arrange repairs; ensure documentation.
• Fill in absent foreman and mentor staff.
