Job summary

The City of Baytown's Public Works department seeks an Equipment Specialist to operate and maintain asphalt crack sealing equipment and other heavy machines. You will perform preventative maintenance, ensure safety compliance, and assist with street, drainage, and sidewalk maintenance.

Duties include operating patch trucks, street sweepers, backhoes, and loaders; performing inspections and routine maintenance; and supporting Solid Waste tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Six months of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; TX license required within 90 days.
• Valid State of Texas Class "B" CDL, or must be obtained within six months of date in position.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment such as street sweeper, dump truck, backhoe, loader, and patcher truck; supports drainage and street maintenance.
• Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Performs traffic control and reports safety hazards.
• Performs skilled and semiskilled construction and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, alleys, and drainage.
• For Solid Waste: operates brush/ stake bed and supports collection duties.
