Job summary

The City of Tyler is seeking a motivated operator to safely run heavy equipment and light vehicles on public works projects. You will perform on-site maintenance, assist mechanics, and help keep streets clear and safe.

This is a physically demanding role requiring problem solving and reliable teamwork. Responsibilities include operating dump trucks and rollers, performing diagnostic checks, and complying with safety and traffic control standards.

Qualifications

• Must have one (1) year of experience operating 3-ton and/or 5-ton dump trucks with minor repairs.
• Must have Texas Class B CDL with air brake endorsement and a clean driving record.
• An equivalent combination of education, experience, or training may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate various equipment and vehicles such as dump trucks, rollers, graders, and loaders.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on equipment.
• Clear streets and rights-of-way, haul materials, and assist with street patching and repairs.
• Maintain a safe work area, set up traffic control, and follow MOT procedures.
