Job summary

Down East Community Hospital in Machias, ME is seeking a part-time Nursing Supervisor to oversee nursing staff during one day shift and one night shift per week.

Under the Chief Nursing Officer, you will coordinate age-appropriate patient care, ensure standards compliance, and lead quality improvement initiatives.

This role requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to respond quickly in emergencies; BSN preferred, Maine RN license, and ACLS/PALS credentials.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current RN license in Maine or endorsement pending.
• BCLS, ACLS, PALS; NRP within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum 4 years of acute care experience.
• Demonstrates leadership and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Promotes communication and teamwork among physicians, staff, and personnel in all departments.
• Supervises nursing staff and coordinates patient care to achieve desired outcomes.
• Assesses staffing needs based on patient acuity and competency.
• Addresses staffing issues with charge nurses and reassigns staff as needed.
• Collaborates with Unit Directors and CNO to develop best practices.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
• Attends management meetings and ensures quality improvement activities.
