Job summary

Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City, AL is seeking a Registered Nurse for full-time, on-site oversight of resident care. The role requires leading nursing staff, reviewing care plans, and ensuring policy compliance to maintain high standards of resident safety and comfort.

The ideal candidate holds a valid RN license and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, with long-term care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid RN license in the state where employed.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher required.
• Experience in long-term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assumes 24 hour oversight for resident care on the assigned unit.
• Periodically reviews the resident’s written care plan and updates it as required.
• Ensures that nursing personnel comply with policies and procedures established by the facility.
• Completes and reviews accident/incident reports and follows up with QA/ADON/DON.
• Maintains Daily Census Report and submits to Business Office as required.
• Makes rounds on unit to ensure resident care needs and environmental standards are met.
• Participates in Quality Assurance meetings and reporting.
• Communicates changes in resident condition to physician and family as necessary.
• Provides direct nursing care as needed.
