Job summary

MITRE Corporation seeks a technically strong Lead Spectrum Engineer to advance spectrum compatibility for weather and environmental sensing missions. You will provide leadership and hands‑on RF analyses across radar, antennas and propagation, coordinating workstreams with government stakeholders.

The role requires deep expertise in spectrum engineering, RF systems, and analytic methods, with clear communication of results and risk to mission owners.

Qualifications

  • This role requires a minimum of 8 years experience in AI with a relevant degree or 6 years with a Master’s.
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical/Systems/Communications Engineering or related field and applicable experience.
  • Experience in spectrum engineering, RF systems, radar, EMC or related fields.
  • Demonstrated spectrum compatibility, interference, spectrum‑dependent analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Spectrum Band Studies & Compatibility Analysis for 2.7–2.9 GHz, including interference scenarios.
  • Hands‑on RF propagation, link‑budget, interference and coexistence analyses using MATLAB/Python.
  • Support acquisition and modernization lifecycle of spectrum‑dependent systems.
  • Apply RF, radar, spectrum and systems engineering to weather systems.
  • Lead technical workstreams and coordinate tasks with engineers.
  • Sponsor and interagency engagement; present results to stakeholders.
  • Documentation, collaboration and mentoring of junior engineers.
