Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Associate to function as a cashier and stocker, leading in the absence of store management. You will help with plan-o-grams, stock merchandise, assist customers, and maintain store standards.

The role emphasizes cash handling, customer service, and teamwork in a fast-paced retail environment. Flexible duties include opening/closing the store under guidance and promoting loss prevention.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; six months of supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math and cash handling.
• Experience with IBM cash registers or similar systems.
• Knowledge of cash handling, safety and loss prevention policies.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Understanding of safety procedures in a retail environment.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandising guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks following store procedures.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock, rotate, and face merchandise; build displays.
• Restock returned merchandise.
• Place orders for zones and drops per Store Manager guidance.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and upkeep.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise.
• Maintain cleanliness and a safe store environment.
• Greet customers entering the store and manage register operations.
• Operate cash register, total purchases, and bag items.
• Handle payments and make change.
• Open/close store per Area Manager directions.
• In Store Manager absence, authorize refunds and maintain cashier accountability.
