Job summary

The RT will follow physician orders, maintain safety, document patient progress, and collaborate with the Director of Nursing, nurses, and physicians to optimize respiratory care and patient outcomes, while mentoring staff and ensuring policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
• Active RRT credential must be possessed and maintained.
• Current ACLS and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of pulmonary care within licensure and facility scope.
• Administers respiratory therapy treatments and monitors effects.
• Assesses patient pain and coordinates interventions with nursing.
• Keeps infection control and equipment sterilization procedures up to date.
• Documents data on the patient’s medical record and tracks progress.
• Operates and tests respiratory equipment for safety and effectiveness.
• Educates patients and families about care plans and learning needs.
• Oversees daily shift operations and liaises with Nursing Director and physicians.
• Remains proficient in PFTs and bronchoscopy techniques.
