Lead Respiratory Therapist

Position: Lead Respiratory Therapist at Insight Health Systems.

Provided Pay Range

$35.00/hr - $38.00/hr

Job Summary

The Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (LRRT) applies expertise to guide decisions involving complex procedures. The LRRT ensures work is technically sound, appropriate, and compliant with policy, utilizing a variety of sources to make clinically sound decisions.

Duties

• Use professional judgment to interpret and adapt guidelines such as agency policies, regulations, precedents, and work directions for specific cases.
• Assign personnel and tasks to assure completion of the workload.
• Oversee and direct clinical guidance to assure completion of the workload.
• Communicate with individuals of varying backgrounds to solve problems and provide conflict resolution.
• Recommend uncommon or atypical interventions.
• Recommend ways to improve patient care and operations through independent research and evaluation of new equipment and therapies.
• Provide clinical leadership and promote quality patient care by training and leading assigned staff members.
• Collaborate with the manager and/or director to develop and revise department quality assurance, performance improvement, policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Serve as a department liaison and first line of contact with patients, providers, and staff.
• Coordinate and oversee the safe delivery of complex, non‑routine treatments of patients.
• Perform facility specific specialty procedures as required.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or Diploma from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• One (1) year critical care experience and one (1) year of related supervisory/lead experience in a hospital setting. Three (3) years of each preferred.
• Supervision/Management knowledge and experience.
• Strong conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Current NM Respiratory Care License and BLS.
• ACLS or National Specialty Certification.
• AARC Membership & National Specialty Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Considerable walking/standing may be required. Frequent lifting, positioning, pushing/pulling may be required when assisting with patient transfer or moving equipment or supplies. Frequent, prolonged extensive or considerable sitting is often required. Manual dexterity and mobility are required. Moderate physical effort (ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds) may be occasionally required.
