Job summary

Meritage Homes in Tampa, FL is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead homebuilding projects from start to finish. You will supervise subcontractors, schedule deliveries, and ensure adherence to building codes and Meritage quality standards.

The role requires reading blueprints, maintaining safety on site, coordinating with multiple departments, and conducting regular inspections with homeowners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in construction management preferred.
• 4–10 years of construction supervision experience.
• Advanced training in residential building trades is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of homebuilding, construction systems/processes, building codes and ROC.
• Ability to read blueprints and inspect framing, stucco, electrical, plumbing, etc.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; Hyphen knowledge a plus.
• Knowledge and use of a wide range of hand and power tools.
• Ability to explain complex issues clearly to others in the industry and to customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage homebuilding construction through all phases to deliver a quality home.
• Schedule subcontractors and delivery dates for materials.
• Ensure building codes and Meritage standards of quality are met.
• Conduct walk-through inspections with the homeowner.
• Communicate safety standards to laborers and sub-contractors; enforce safety regulations on all job sites.
• Maintain a clean and organized jobsite and subdivision.
• Interact daily with various departments, subcontractors, customers, and city inspectors.
• Attend Construction, monthly and quarterly meetings.
